Running Minikube

For more details on Minikube, see the Kubernetes documentation. The following sections provide a quick reference for running Minikube with Lightbend-recommended parameters.

Start Minikube

To run Lightbend Console on Minishift, Lightbend recommends increasing the default CPUs to 4 and memory to at least 8192. In a command window, use the following steps to run and configure Minikube:

  1. Start Minikube:

minikube start --cpus 4 --memory 8192
  2. Once the cluster is running, set the Docker environment in your command window:

    eval $(minikube docker-env)
  3. View your cluster:

    kubectl get nodes
  4. Open the Kubernetes dashboard:

    minikube dashboard

With Minikube running, install Helm. Then, you can package and deploy Lightbend Platform applications and install Lightbend Console.

Stop Minikube

Use the following command to stop Minikube without removing the cluster: minikube stop

Clean up and start over

If you encounter an issue, stop Minikube, then delete your cluster with the following command:

minikube delete
